Where to plant Apricots
pricots are best planted in a moist but well-drained, fertile soil of sand or loam with a slightly alkaline pH balance. They are best planted in a position that receives full sun. Apricots are well suited to being planted in a variety of garden styles. Dwarf varieties are also available that are suited to being planted in containers on a patio.
How to plant Apricots
Amend the soil with well-rotted compost before planting. Plant outside in early summer or in a greenhouse in mid-spring. Space companion plants 40cm (16in) apart from one another. Water well after planting. If planting into the ground and not a pot, dig a shallow circle reservoir around the plant to help keep the soil moist.
How to care for Apricots
Water newly planted Apricots frequently. Feed with a granular fertiliser in late February. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure in early Spring.
